post[title] steemdb 0.4.1 - daily curation and author leaderboards
post[body] A quick update following [yesterday's 0.4.0 release](https://steemit.com/steemdb/@jesta/steemdb-0-4-0-a-rich-history-for-every-account), today we have rewards leaderboards! # Leaderboards Have you ever wondered who earned the most rewards on a specific day? This new section of [steemdb.com](https://steemdb.com) (located under the [labs section](https://steemdb.com/labs)) lets you browse through the history of Curation and Author rewards by day and find those who earned the most. You can use the date navigation right above that section to go back and forward to different dates. These pages use the **payout/reward date** of the post, not the post date itself. ## Author Leaderboard ![Author](https://steemdb.com/examples/steemdb-leaderboard-author.png) URL: https://steemdb.com/labs/author The **Author Leaderboard** shows you which authors have earned the most on any given day by the posts and comments they write. All 3 currencies are displayed, as well as the number of posts that author made. ## Curation Leaderboard ![Curation](https://steemdb.com/examples/steemdb-leaderboard-curation.png) URL: https://steemdb.com/labs/curation The **Curation Leaderboard** shows you which curators earned the most on any given day. The VEST and SP earned from curation is displayed, the number of curation rewards they earned that day, as well as how many unique authors they ended up voting for. ## Where does this go from here? I have a lot of fun stats planned for this type of data, with this release in the **Labs** section being the first. Going forward, I plan on adding a weekly summary, monthly summary, as well as an all-time leaderboard to show who has earned the most overall in their various activities. If you're interested in learning how this is done, I'd recommend checking out @aizensou's post about [Customize Payout Leaderboard Stats for Steem](https://steemit.com/stats/@aizensou/customize-payouts-leaderboards-stats-for-steem-network). The work both of us have done around this subject is derived from a patch @arhag made for steem last week.

post[title] steemdb 0.4.0 - a rich history for every account
post[body] This is probably my favorite set of features (to date) working on this project - it answers so many questions I've had about my account's history I couldn't find elsewhere! In the 0.4.0 release of [steemdb.com](https://steemdb.com), new key features include `curation reward history`, `author reward history`, `transfer history`, `power up history` and `power down history`. These features are available for any account, just visit [steemdb.com](https://steemdb.com) and search for your account using the search bar on the top, and use the sub navigation to find different aspects of your account. Before I go any further, **a huge thank you to @arhag, who helped me gather this information by [developing a modified version of steemd](https://github.com/arhag/steem/commit/fa7b9925cdac9da372e3b6c6bc246a3413343916).** I couldn't have done this as easily without the feature he added here. I hope this patch makes its way into the official build soon! *Sorry mobile users, the site still isn't really optimized on your end yet.* --- # Rewards History Ever been curious about what your long term rewards history looks like, in terms of both curation and author rewards? I have, and no where have I been able to view detailed information about these events until now. The black/blue navigation bar on this page allows you to navigate between **Curation** and **Author** rewards. ### Curation Reward History ![](https://steemdb.com/examples/steemdb-curation.png?fhfhgf) Example URL: https://steemdb.com/@jesta/curation The above screenshot and link shows off the new **curation rewards** page which is available for every account. You can browse through the entire history of curation rewards for an account until the beginning of time using the pagination on the bottom of the page. I choose to represent the graph and statistical information in VESTS instead of STEEM POWER, because the blockchain actually has no record of the STEEM POWER (AFAIK) you earned in the past. If I had a source of historical conversion rates I could update to show estimates of those rewards, but at this time I do not have that information. However, each individual record as you scroll shows an estimated earnings in STEEM POWER using today's current conversion rate. So technically if you never powered down those rewards, this is what those rewards have grown to at this date. Confusing I know, we'll work it out and make it more consumable as time progresses :) ### Author Reward History ![](https://steemdb.com/examples/steemdb-authoring.png) Example URL: https://steemdb.com/@jesta/authoring This screenshot and associated link shows off the new **author rewards** page. Similar to the curation rewards page, this page shows rewards for all of the posts and comments you've ever written. Currently there is no way to filter between the two types of posts easily, but it's something on my radar to improve. --- # Transfer History A number of times recently I have been asked for very deep history about the accounting of an account, whether it be for a promotion being run or for personal records. There are currently a number of different ways you can transfer funds, and to start with my in depth data analysis, I've choose what I feel are the three most important: - STEEM transfers (or "Power Up") to VESTS - VESTS transfers (or "Power Down") to STEEM - SBD/STEEM transfers between accounts In the future I plan on also adding transfers to/from savings accounts as well as escrow. The black/blue navigation bar on this page allows you to navigate between **Power Up**, **Power Down** and **Transfer** history. ### "Power Up" Transfer History (aka Vesting Deposit) ![](https://steemdb.com/examples/steemdb-powerup.png) Example URL: https://steemdb.com/@kevinwong/powerup I hope @kevinwong doesn't mind me using him as an example. He has powered up 19x times in the last 30 days, so it made for a good chart :) This new **power up transfer** page shows all conversions of STEEM to SP/VESTS an account has ever performed and lets you dig into it's history. The top of the page also features a chart with the amount powered up, each day, over the last 90 days. The page itself shows how much STEEM was transfered into SP, but doesn't account for how many VESTS the user received. As with the two sections above, once I get my hands on some historical conversion information, I'll be able to generate estimates for these conversions but never exact amounts. ### "Power Down" Transfer History (aka Vesting Withdraw) ![](https://steemdb.com/examples/steemdb-powerdown.png) Example URL: https://steemdb.com/@jesta/powerdown This new page is the exact opposite of the power up page, and shows all **power down transfers** an account has ever made. The record being shown here is when the actual power down occurs, and not the request to power down. Here you can see a week to week overview of how much STEEM POWER/VESTS a user has withdrawn into liquid STEEM. The chart at the top of the page shows the last 90 days of history (roughly 12-13 weeks) of power down transfers. ### STEEM/SBD Transfer History ![](https://steemdb.com/examples/steemdb-transfers.png) Example URL: https://steemdb.com/@bittrex/transfers Last but not least is the actual **transfer** page, which shows all STEEM and SBD transfers involving the account you're viewing. You can use the pagination at the bottom to browse through the entire history of transfers. I choose @bittrex as an example to show in the screenshot above simply because they have a large volume of incoming and outgoing transfer history. **Note**: Most transactions are missing the "type" column of the data right now. I am working on a fix for this, but it will require a decent amount of time to replay the blockchain and correct this issue. In my rush to get this project started, I inadvertently stripped off the currency symbol without thinking to store it anywhere. --- # Additional Features ### New navigation items for accounts ![](https://steemdb.com/examples/steemdb-newmenuitems.png) All of the new features described above are located under "Activity" with these two menu items. ### The user sidebar sticks to the page now ![](https://steemdb.com/examples/sidebar-stick.gif) These pages are getting long, so I figured it might be nice if the sidebar followed you down the page to provide context. ### Pagination ![](https://steemdb.com/examples/steemdb-pagination.png) All of these new pages have pagination elements as shown above. This element is at the bottom of each page that lets you browse forward and backward in time. ### Some charts have tooltips now ![](https://steemdb.com/examples/steemdb-chart-tooltips.png) They are sort of terrible, but they show something at least. I haven't implemented them on every chart simply because it was taking too long, and charts with multiple data segments were almost impossible to do. This charting solution, while looks great, has been rather difficult to use when trying to setup tooltips and interactions. ### Full change log If you're interested in seeing all the minor changes (I won't include here), I'd invite you to check out the github commit history. This is an open source project, anyone can contribute and run it if they choose to. https://github.com/aaroncox/steemdb/commits/master --- I'm excited to have these updates deployed and I hope you enjoy! It'll likely be a few weeks before another update to steemdb is deployed, and on the radar is steemstats like features and new/better charting of data. If you have something you'd specifically like to see, please let me know. While I haven't gotten around to everyones ideas, I do keep track of all suggestions and review them as I'm looking for fun new things to accomplish.

post[title] steemdb 0.3.1 - timelines for new followers, reblogs, and witness votes
post[body] The most common thing I've been asked for in my projects is the ability to see new followers. In a social media based community like we have here, many people want to observe when they have new followers so they can learn a bit more about them, and possibly follow them back. After spending a bit time figuring out the proper way to do this, I'm happy to announce these features are now available on [steemdb.com](https://steemdb.com). # Timeline of followers for an account ![Imgur](http://i.imgur.com/0oLfg7O.png) Example: https://steemdb.com/@jesta/followers Ever wondered who is following you and unfollowing you? The new layout for the **followers** section of each account on steemdb tells you just that. This list will show you chronologically who is following and unfollowing you. # Timeline of who an account is following ![Imgur](http://i.imgur.com/u2egdbs.png) Just as above, except this is a list of who this account you follows and unfollows. Example: https://steemdb.com/@jesta/following # Reblogged content, written by an account ![Imgur](http://i.imgur.com/yiMXiNz.png) Example: https://steemdb.com/@jesta/reblogged This new page found under **Social -> Reblogged** on each account will tell you who has reblogged any content written by the account you are viewing. # Content an account reblogs ![Imgur](http://i.imgur.com/yEDChxf.png) Example: https://steemdb.com/@jesta/reblogs Yet another new page located under **Social -> Reblogs** on each account shows every piece of content that this account has reblogged to their authors. # Timeline of Witness Votes for an account ![Imgur](http://i.imgur.com/QxYp0Xx.png) Example: https://steemdb.com/@jesta/witness The last new section which can be found under **Witness -> History** now also has a tabbed interface. The first tab is now a timeline showing all witness votes cast for that account. The previous two sections of active votes cast, and active votes received are behind the remaining two tabs of the page. --- That's all for today! These updates were actually partially deployed with the 0.3.0 update last week, but they were still analyzing the blockchain and collecting data. Today I'm confident the data is accurate and new data will be recorded going forward. As a final note, I'd encourage you all to go check out the **[introduction my business partner just posted today](https://steemit.com/introduceyourself/@paxmagnus/online-game-industry-veteran-turned-tech-entrepreneur-meets-the-blockchain)**. If you've been following my weekly witness updates, you've probably seen random musings of my attempts to encourage his post. He finally did, so jump over and say hello! :)

post[title] steemdb 0.3.0 - account details, witness list upgrades, and account discovery
post[body] Over the last two weeks if you're a regular on [steemdb.com](https://steemdb.com), you've probably noticed some changes. I've been slowly addding features since the last update 2 weeks ago and have been releasing them as soon as they are complete. This post is the culmination of updates that have occurred over that time. I'm happy to put a bow on a set of these changes and call it **0.3.0**. If you don't have the time to read the entire post, what you can look forward to on the site is `account details sidebar`, `tracking of missed blocks per account`, `historical votes for each witness`, `an updated witness list`, `compact navigation on accounts`, `new ways to sort/filter all accounts`, and some `new api endpoints`. ## Account - Sidebar ![account-sidebar](http://i.imgur.com/DWoZkOL.png) Example: https://steemdb.com/@jesta Posts have had a sidebar with external links since they were created, so I figured why not do the same for accounts. There have been so many times where I've wanted to go off and look at an account on steemit or steemd, and I would just change the URL by hand. No more, now you have links for easy access. - This sidebar has the "Author Card", which is the same element you'll find on each post. It's a brief overview of that account, which I'll be hopefully improving on in the future as we gain avatars and more details for each account. - Balances for the account, most of which you can hover over to get additional details for the related currency. The additional data includes interest payment dates, power down amounts and dates, and the balances which are stored in savings vs normal. - When this account was last updated by steemdb's crawlers. ## Account - Witness Vote History ![account-witness-votes](http://i.imgur.com/BAaG9ez.png) Example: https://steemdb.com/@jesta/witness This chart shows a snapshot of your total incoming witness vote weights over time. It doesn't specifically show you why that value increased, but hopefully I'll be able to add that data over time. For now it's a good indication of how you're performing as a witness in gathering votes. ## Account List - Navigation ![accounts-navigation](http://i.imgur.com/44Tu5is.png) Example: https://steemdb.com/accounts I've expanded the account list navigation to have many more sorting options, and am always looking for more. If you have any thoughts on great ways to sort/filter accounts, feel free to reach out! My favorite new sorting method is... ## Account List - Follower Weight ![accounts-follower-weight](http://i.imgur.com/fKQTfv5.png) Example: https://steemdb.com/accounts/followers_mvest I'm pretty excited about this, and a big thanks @pfunk for coming up with the idea! This is a new way to sort accounts, right now I have it called "Value of Followers". This number is saved on each account, and is a sum of the VESTS for each follower of that account. It's an indication of how far your reach is for posting and reblogging other peoples posts. If you're interested in what your value is, you can find it currently on the "Data" under the field `followers_mvest`. I'll work on surfacing it more as the site grows. ## Witness List - Weekly Misses ![witness-weekly-misses](http://i.imgur.com/ozcauxj.png) Example: https://steemdb.com/witnesses One of the statistics that's always reported about witnesses is how many blocks they've missed. Unfortunately this isn't an incredibly useful number on it's own. One of the most recent additions to the witnesses page on steemdb now is how many blocks a witness has missed in the last 7 days. Future plans for this data point include what percentage of blocks they've witnessed has been missed. I have the data collection started to build this out, but haven't yet implemented it. If you click on either of the values in this column, you'll be brought to... ## Account - Missed Blocks ![account-missed-blocks](http://i.imgur.com/vWzL7ym.png) Example: https://steemdb.com/@jesta/missed This is a new page that shows missed blocks since I've started recording the data. As far as I know, the actual misses themselves aren't recorded in the blockchain itself. So I've started monitoring and recording whenever a block is missed. These times are within a minute (when the script is scheduled) and should help witnesses comb through their logs to determine what went wrong at that point in time. --- ### Full Patch Notes for 0.3.0 There's a ton of new changes in this version, more than I have time to write and annotate screenshots for. Here are the full patch notes, which are [also available on github](https://github.com/aaroncox/steemdb/commits/master). **Major Updates**: - **Split all the account views into their own pages instead of tabs**: This will allow for more complex operations on each individual page. They can be recreated as tabs in the future, except as js calls to load new content. It's also very nice to be able to refresh the page you're on for updates! - **Storage of 30 days worth of blocks in a capped collection**: Most of our queries against the block collection are limited to 30 days. By creating a secondary collection and limiting it to 30 days, we can improve query time and only use the block database for queries longer than 30 days. - API to return information about the top 50 witnesses and their votes - Example: https://steemdb.com/api/topwitnesses - API for current witness vote weight per day, per account - Example: https://steemdb.com/api/account/jesta/witness - API for current account information - Example: https://steemdb.com/api/account/jesta **Additional Updates**: ``` - Save a total balance for SBD/STEEM while gathering history - Allow for hovering into tooltips - Added link to top 50 witnesses api in labs - Reflect total balances on account page (+savings) - Changed account history to a definition table - Tooltips on account balances for more information - New operation types from 0.14 - Updates to witness list - Changed filtering to savings + normal balances - Scroll overflow on our definition table labels - Updating tracked fields in the history service for 0.14.2 - Wrapped the witness table in a horizontally scrollable div for mobile use - Better and more pretty json responses from the API - Making the misses on witness pages into a tiny label to stand out more - Displaying the update time on the accounts page - Added chart to each accounts witness page with growth - If the signing key is null or empty, make the witness row red - Alignment and attaching the table to the menu - Sorting by the sum of the vests of all followers for each account - Sorting by other balance types - Allow active on the account navigation for accounts as well as account controllers - Indication when a page is a snapshot and not live data - More clear UI for misses on witness page - Widening of the first column on the account overview - Show full UTC time instead of approx for missed blocks - Added SP to the account sidebar - Number formatting for vest2sp - Matching the buttons to the account view page - Some clarification headers on different sections - Only pass the account name and not the document - Fixed regex to allow dashes/numbers in usernames - Also store the creation datetime - Added a check for missed blocks to the witness script - Moved the card above the external links - Added a note with what time the snapshot originated - Added a sidebar to the account page - Reworked menu items into dropdowns - Renamed author card to account and added reputation - WitnessMiss Model - Added how many misses in the last week to witnesses - Added a page to view blocks that witnesses miss - Allowed for filtering of votes (incoming/outgoing) - Added a basic page to view individual blocks - Try/catch around the actual calls themselves - this all needs to be moved to JS - Adjusted the warning range up to a week (per white paper) - Split listing of accounts off account controller to accounts - Database Index for name/vest sorting - Attempting to load an account and handling errors - Added node configuration to the service - Added cli_wallet commands to the sidebar of posts - More witness page status effects - Open external links in a new tab - API endpoint for tracking most active downvoters ``` --- As always, thanks for the support in all forms. I love building data driven information sites like this and you have all been incredibly welcoming. I'll keep doing what I can do to improve the quality of life for us all.

post[html_preview] <p>Over the last two weeks if you're a regular on steemdb.com, you've probably noticed some changes. I've been slowly addding features since the last update 2 weeks ago and have been releasing them as soon as they are complete. </p><p>This post is the culmination of updates that have occurred over that time. I'm happy to put a bow on a set of these changes and call it 0.3.0.</p>

post[title] steemdb 0.2.0 - rshares allocation browser, new data api's and some minor improvements
post[body] With a focus on data, the new labs section of [steemdb.com](https://steemdb.com) is now live, including 5 unique API endpoints as well as a new way to browse reward share distributions. Since steemdb is still [a relatively new project](https://steemit.com/steemdb/@jesta/steemdb-com-open-source-blockchain-explorer-and-data-playground-alpha-release), I'm still exploring what this site really is becoming. I'd encourage you to read the [update to steemstats](https://steemit.com/steemstats/@jesta/steemstats-0-3-5-improved-post-inspector-fixes-and-prep-for-0-14-0), at the bottom I spoke a bit about the direction of steemstats + steemdb in the coming months. ## Welcome to the Lab ![steemdb labs](http://i.imgur.com/513mqTy.png) A new section of steemdb is now live - [the lab](https://steemdb.com/labs). The lab is for experimental views and data, to help us (the community) learn more about exactly what is happening within the steem ecosystem. Any time someone asks for a specific data view or way to analyze the data, I'll be adding a link to it here. At it's launch, this section has one experimental view and 5 new api endpoints. Some of these endpoints are somewhat slow still, as I'm still working on optimizing the queries in the database. ### Reward Shares allocated by voter, per day ![rshares browser](http://i.imgur.com/kysCGaX.png) I've been chatting with @clayop recently about finding ways to determine who is contributing the most day by day to the rewards of posts. This new page is a set of data to show you how many reward shares each voter has allocated per day. https://steemdb.com/labs/rshares You can browse day by day using the navigation, just like on the homepage. The information on this page is as follows: - Total Reward Shares: The total sum of every reward share allocated to every post that day (UTC Time). It's a huge number, that's for sure. - Voters: The total unique voters that day This data is then followed by a table of the 100 most impactful voters that day, sorted by total rshares distributed. This table includes: - The rank/position of their contributions. - The percentage of overall contributions they contributed for the day. - The actual number value of these contributions. - The total votes that account cast in that day. - A link to view more about that account. From this table, you can see who is dishing out the most rewards that day. I'm incredibly curious to know what the community thinks of this data, if it's useful, and what other kinds of data you'd be curious in knowing. ### Public APIs The labs page also features a number of API endpoints for you to use for your analysis or websites. They were APIs that I needed for various purposes or that the community has asked for. - **currency supply**: A day by day view of each of the currencies. It aggregates and creates the total values based on snapshots of every single account by day. - **global props history**: If you've worked with steemd before, you've likely used the global dynamic properties. This is a historical feed of this data, with a snapshot being created every 6 hours. - **percentage vesting**: The percentage of steem held as vests over time. - **voter rshares**: This is the equivalent of the reward shares browser listed above, in API format. - **down voters**: A list of the 20 most prolific down voters each day. Useful for keeping tabs on those likely abusing the system. ## Follower Details ![follower details](http://i.imgur.com/jwn2Y2k.png) By popular request, I've added some account information/details to the Followers and Following tabs of each account. Both of these tabs are sorted by VESTS/SP by default. ## Charts ![30 day charts](http://i.imgur.com/87uDyTE.png) All charts are now 30-day charts, which lets you actually see which date it was instead of just guessing. This also helped improve load times on the site, so it was a win-win. ## Misc Fixes - Added support for new operations in 0.14.0 - Witness Voting calculations now include proxy votes - Created new indexes to improve database load times - Added filtering + pagination to the accounts page late last week ## Contribute! https://github.com/aaroncox/steemdb This is an open source project, anyone's welcome to contribute. I realize the specific technologies aren't common within this community, but I'm more than happy to assist someone in building specific features that might help benefit the community. Right now creating new ways to expose "big data" from the blockchain has been my goal. Having a database like this synchronized with the blockchain allows for some in-depth analysis in ways we might not otherwise have had. Feel free to reach out in #steemdb.com in steemit.chat or here on steemit if you have ideas for features, requests for data, or are looking to chat.
